Who we are
The Interkulturelle Begegnungsstätte e. V. (IKB) is a network of associations and initiatives in Lübeck. It has its roots in the migrant movement. Democratic values such as solidarity, freedom, friendship, equality, justice and diversity are our guiding principles. IKB works in a cross-cultural, secular and participatory way. The aim of our work is to improve the participation of people with an international family history in all areas of life. The House of Cultures sees itself as an open centre for democratic and cosmopolitan associations and institutions as well as for people of all origins – across all borders, denominations and world views.
What we offer
From 1 November 2023, the House of World Cultures will open a community-based contact and counselling centre (initial and referral counselling) for people affected by racism in Lübeck weact.
Counselling concerns
- Anti-black racism, anti-Semitism, racism against Muslims and people of Muslim origin, racism against
- Asians and people of Asian origin, Gadjé racism, anti-Roma racism, anti-sinicism, LGBTQIA+ as well as discrimination and violence in everyday life.
- Institutional and structural racism in education, healthcare, employment, housing, immigration, law enforcement such as the judiciary and police Other areas such as racism in mass retail, leisure and sport
Our weact-Team
Monika Myśliwiec
Monika Myśliwiec studied psychology in Łódź (Poland) and applied cultural studies in Lüneburg (Germany). She has been working at the Haus der Kulturen – Interkulturelle Begegnungsstätte e. V. since 2018.
