Book: Close to the people – six years of local refugee work

The immigration society brings challenges with it – especially for those for whom good coexistence is important. In order to better position cities for refugees, the “samo.fa” project set up migrant organizations in 30 locations across Germany. After more than six years of accompanying and supporting refugees, the authors take stock: migrant organizations have become indispensable as active (co-)shapers. The direct contact and the resulting improved opportunities for cities to welcome refugees as fellow citizens are particularly convincing – proof of how refugee work can be organized in a committed and prudent manner “on site” as an ongoing task.
