In cooperation with the Goethe Institute Mannheim, the weact counseling center at the Hildegard Lagrenne Foundation in Mannheim offers an online consultation hour for people with experience of racism every last Thursday of the month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The weact contact and counseling center is aimed at people affected by racism and discrimination. We aim to support those affected by racism through low-threshold counseling services and empower them to deal with their experiences of racism through systemic support.
Depending on the number of registered people, the counseling session can last between 45 and 60 minutes. Counseling sessions are available in German, English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese. Our counseling is critical of power, intersectional, based on solidarity, and trust. Participation is free of charge.
Issues addressed in counseling:
• Racism in everyday life, e.g., in leisure time, in sports, in shops, etc.
• Institutional and structural racism, e.g., in education, healthcare, the world of work, the housing market, immigration authorities, the police, etc.
Our weact counseling center in Mannheim is also open to anyone who has experienced racism. You can reach us by email at beratung-weact@hildegard-lagrenne-stiftung.de or by phone at +49 157 547 476 -36 or +49 157 547 476 -37 . Our counseling is free of charge.
Who is the course aimed at?
The project at the Goethe-Institut is co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and is aimed at third-country nationals in Germany and those shortly before entering Germany. Refugees are not included in the target group.
